Ardantane Events




Directions and instructions regarding what to bring are sent with final registration confirmation materials. All events are held from 9 am to 5 pm each day unless otherwise specified in the description.

Lodging for events at Ardantane is available on campus. Contact Ardantane at (505) 469-7777 for information or to reserve a place. Lodging is also available 15 minutes away in the scenic town of Jemez Springs. Meals are not included, though snacks and drinks are provided.

Advance registration is required only for classes and retreats. You can just show up at sabbats and Blessed Beavers work parties. There is no charge for sabbat celebrations; donations toward cost are accepted, and bring a potluck dish or beverage. Blessed Beavers work parties pay you: $40 in Beaver Bucks for a day's volunteer service.

  • BELTANE RETREAT: RENEWAL & REGENERATION
    Friday -Sunday May 4-6, 2012, Rowan and the Ardantane staff - Fee $110
    Shake off the gloom of winter! Spend this full moon weekend at Ardantane renewing your Spirit and refreshing your body with a series of fun rituals and activities intended to remind us all why we became Pagans in the first place. We will begin with drumming in the dome on Friday night and finish with a trip to Our Lady of the Woods' traditional Beltane celebration over the hill in Los Alamos on Sunday early in the afternoon. In the meantime, we will plant a magickal herb garden in the oasis, salute the rising sun from the Sun Circle and the full Moon in the Moon circle and more.

  • SUNFEST FAMILY DAY
    Sunday June 10, 2012
    Fees: FREE if you do the Blessed Beavers work party Saturday; otherwise $20 adults, $10 teens, free for younger children.
    It's a whole new Sunfest: a day of nature walks, Pagan crafts, and fun for adults and kids. Compete in the games to become the new Sun King (contest open to candidates of all genders) or Sun Prince or Princess. Get cool drinks, ice cream, lunch, or snacks at the Solar Cafe. Sing, dance and drum in the early-evening Bardic Circle.

    During Sunfest, June 10, 2012
    You will learn what herbs and in which form to carry in your first aid kit. You will learn how to treat common first aid conditions including but not limited to insect bites, wounds, intestinal troubles, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, headaches, dehydration, sprains, strains. You will learn home and field applications.

    For many, casting magickal spells is an essential cornerstone of pagan spiritual practice. This weekend intensive offers a survey of spellcasting in theory and practice in the Western tradition, with an emphasis on Pagan magick. The course includes discussion on how and why spells work, the basic steps of preparing and executing a spell, and the use of magickal correspondences. Forms of magick covered include candle spells, herbal magick, cord magick, and spells for prosperity, health, protection, and banishing. Both the spiritual and pragmatic uses of magick spells are discussed. Other topics covered including spell writing, magickal tools, and astrological timing.

    The revelations of modern science often seen more "magickal" and extraordinary than the strangest imaginings of our prescientific predecessors. Modern ideas like the fluidity of space and time in Relativity theory, or the interconnectedness of observation and reality in Quantum Mechanics, seem to cry out for interpretation in spiritual or occult terms. Not all approaches to connecting science and spirituality are equally credible, however. In this class, we sort though some of the scientific concepts and look at what they imply (and do not imply) about metaphysics and magick. Scientific concepts will be presented with considerable care, but the presentations are accessible to people with little or no scientific background. Creative activities, play, and discussion are used to explore and develop the key ideas.

    Through magick, we transform the reality we live in. Magick is found in all times and cultures, and despite differences, there are also many common patterns, concepts and practices. This weekend workshop provides intensive hands-on instruction on the theory and practice of creating positive change by magickal means. The emphasis is on ideas and techniques that allow you to create your own spells or magickal workings, rather than relying on what others have done. Topics covered include magickal symbolism, raising and directing energy, ethical uses, and magick as a tool for spiritual growth. Both planning and execution of magickal work are considered in detail. The course covers astrological timing as well as the use of herbs, oils, and tools.

    This online class will look at our rights as Wiccan practioners, and how they have been treated in the courts of the United States over time. The four classes will begin with a brief overview of case law and religious freedom, the costs—monetary, emotional, and psychic—of taking legal action to defend one's rights or those of one's coven mates, and an exploration of other ways of securing our right to practice our religion without harassment. Using the case study method, we will look at court rulings and legal action in the areas of child custody, employment law, and general harassment.
